Alex and Tyler at Denali National Park

Our Story

We first met on the 50-yard line of Neyland Stadium during Torch Night, an orientation tradition at the University of Tennessee. It was the first few days of our freshman year of undergrad, and if it were not for that night, our paths may never have crossed. There is so little overlap between our fields, even our classes are held on the far sides of campus! Regardless, we became fast friends, bonding over our shared love of video games, food, and the outdoors. As our friendship blossomed, so too did our feelings for each other, and in November of 2021, Tyler asked Alex out.

Four years, two cats, and two college degrees later, we've experienced so much together. We've traveled from the rainforest of Costa Rica to the tundra of Alaska all while building a home together, finishing our degrees, and taking the first tentative steps out into our respective careers.

Navigating our differences in career paths, backgrounds, interests, and overall approaches to life has been both challenging and deeply rewarding. We constantly encourage each other to step outside our comfort zones, to learn new perspectives, and try new things. We've pushed each other to become more and more well-rounded as individuals, and, in turn, this has strengthened us as a partnership.

In December 2024, we made the decision to solidify our commitment to each other and were engaged. Now, as we plan for the next chapter of our lives, we're so excited to celebrate with all the people who have supported us along the way. Thank you for being a part of our story and for joining us to celebrate its future!

Dress Code

We'd like to invite everyone to embrace a “cozy cocktail” style, elegant enough for such a momental occasion, but relaxed and comfortable enough to enjoy a cool October evening. Think soft layers, warm fabrics, and colors that reflect the season: deep greens, rusts, golds, burgundies, and other autumn tones that blend beautifully with the landscape.

If you'd like to wear patterns, we'd love for them to be inspired by nature: florals, vines, or leafy designs that feel timeless and organic. Dresses, skirts, or dressy jumpsuits in rich fabrics like satin or wool are perfect choices, while suits or slacks paired with knit tops, blazers, or stylish boots fit the look just as well. We've attached a Pinterest board below with outfit inspiration to help you pick something perfect for the occasion!

The Star of Knoxville Riverboat on the Tennessee River with the Sunsphere in the background

The Venue — The Star of Knoxville

Address: 300 Neyland Dr, Knoxville TN

The Star of Knoxville is an authentic paddleboat that is one of only five left in the US. The Star has been operating in Knoxville, sailing up and down the Tennessee River while crewed by the Tennessee Riverboat Co, which has been family owned for the past 30 years. It has a top deck (which is where we'll be hosting the ceremony), and a fully-enclosed lower deck (which is where we'll be hosting the reception). Parking at the dock is very limited, so we highly suggest using an Uber, Lyft, or just carpooling as much as possible.

Registry + Honeymoon Fund

Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift we could ask for! If you'd like to give something extra, we'd be most grateful for contributions to our honeymoon fund, which will help us to make memories that last a lifetime. We also have a selection of registry gifts that we'd be thrilled to receive, but your love and support is what truly matters most.
